Its powertrain includes a 332 hp Vortec 6.0L V8 engine with Late Intake Valve Closing (LIVC), a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride Energy Storage System (ESS) and an advanced Electronically Variable Transmission (EVT). It also puts out vast amounts of torque - 417 pounds-feet of it, to be exact, enough to tow trailers weighing up to a very substantial 3674 kg (8100 lb.). Yet, thanks to premium features like Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and Active Fuel Management®, Escalade delivers excellent fuel efficiency for its class of vehicle and does it on regualr gasoline. The Escalade V8 is also a FlexFuel engine capable of running on E85 ethanol - an important consideration with today's rising fuel prices.
